Brainhow

Brainhow is an interactive brain for iPad. It was made as my submission for the Apple Swift Student Challenge 2026, which it won.

It started as an idea for teaching users what dopamine is and how it works, and later turned into an interactive 3D learning experience using simple, self-made brain models.

The brain responds to touch, drag and zoom. The app is divided into lessons, and each lesson uses a dedicated 3D model to teach its own topic.

I mainly focused on making it visually rather than technically appealing, but that changed with a last-minute decision, when I chose to build and import AR features, letting users display the lessons' 3D models in their own space and use their own hands (visible through the camera) to control the models and move through the lesson's steps.

Brainhow was selected as a winner of the Apple Swift Student Challenge, which recognises student developers worldwide. The submission was noted for its innovation and technical execution.

The app is open source and available on my GitHub.
